Chaining Gram-positive cocci were isolated from human blood and misidentified by multiple commercial assays. Additional biochemical testing reveled a catalase-positive non-hemolytic streptococcus that was weakly Lancefield Group B-positive. It was identified as Streptococcus halichoeri by 16S rRNA sequencing.
