CHALLENGE: Acidification 2022

Seawater pH and Temperature (ºC) measurements were taken using a multiparametric probe. Specimens of the following species were collected to measure skeletal Mg levels in their body components: Odontaster validus, Ophionotus victoriae, Abatus sp., crustose coralline algae (CCA) spp., Bryozoan spp. Specimens of the following species were collected to measure skeletal persistent organic pollutants:Odontaster validus, Ophionotus victoriae, Serolidae spp., Amphipod spp., sediment samples. Specimens of the following algae species were collected to measure fatty acids: Desmarestia antarctica, Desmarestia menziesii, Phaeurus antarcticus and Ascoseira mirabilis. Specimens of CCA sp. and Bryozoan sp. were trasplanted to a fishing trap to measure skeletal Mg levels after one year of trasplantation.
