1RXS J050526.3-684628 is a super soft source (SSS) in the Large Magellanic Cloud(LMC). A recent study reported the discovery of coherent pulsations andidentified the system as an accreting White Dwarf (WD). Moreover the study ofhistoric X-ray and optical properties of J050526 have revealed it to be aremarkably long-lived post-nova SSS (~30 year duration) reaching its peak fluxaround 2013. Nevertheless the lack of multiple deep X-ray observations hampersthe study of the system and prohibits further testing of theoretical models. Werequest a 60 ks XMM-Newton observation to study the evolution of its spectraland temporal properties during the decay of its flux. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
