Beyond Sarcopenia: Evaluating Changes in Muscle Impairment After Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery – A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

This systematic review and meta-analysis assessed changes in muscle quantity, strength, and physical performance which occur following metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) without specific interventions to conserve muscle loss. For longitudinal studies, we included only those comparing baseline values to outcomes at 6 months or later after MBS. For cross-sectional studies, inclusion required a MBS group and a nonsurgical control group of similar weight status for comparison. This repositoty contains the data extracted from included studies for meta-analsyis.
