Input-output data of factors of production in China

2006, China's State Council promulgated the National Medium - and Long -Term Science and Technology Development Plan. This policy formally designated robotics as a vital component of advanced manufacturing and a priority high-technology sector, marking its elevation to a national strategic level. This study's analysis period is therefore designed to assess the long-term impact of this strategic focus on economic growth. The analysis relies on several official data sources: the China Statistical Yearbook, the China Population and Employment Statistical Yearbook, provincial statistical yearbooks, the National Bureau of Statistics database, and the China Customs database. The Customs database is particularly crucial, as its comprehensive, enterprise records of international trade transactions provide the microdata necessary for identifying robot imports and their geographic distribution. For the few instances of missing data for specific provinces and years, interpolation was used to ensure a balanced panel. The final sample constitutes a balanced panel dataset spanning 2006 to 2023 and covers 30 provincial-level administrative regions in mainland China. Tibet, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan were excluded due to data unavailability.
