Canadian Gallup Poll, September 1983, #477_1

This Gallup poll seeks the opinions of Canadians, on political and social issues. The questions ask opinions about support for political parties and political issues within the country. There are also questions on other topics of interest and importance to the country and government, such as Canada's position in the world, pollution and the metric system. The respondents were also asked questions so that they could be grouped according to geographical variables. Topics of interest include: allowing retail stores to be open on Sunday; the amount of extra money left over after paying the bills; the benefits of the metric system to Canadians; Canada's position in the world; the concerns over pollution in the Great Lakes; deciding to dissolve parliament; the development of foreign resources; the difficulty of metric conversions; dropping Liberal party support; the effects of automation; political predictions; supporting a political party that has a women as leader; and thinking in metric. Basic demographic variables are also included.
