It is a powerful World Wide Web-based system that manages and provides archived and real-time data from a variety of upper atmospheric science instruments. This database supports multiple data formats, is accessible via API, and provides interfaces for programming languages such as Matlab, Python, and IDL. The architecture and implementation of the Madrigal Database comply with the FAIR Guiding Principles, and metadata can be shared across Madrigal sites to enable cross-site data searching.
