<b>Forest Governance in Central Africa and the Intertwinement of Local and International Political Influences: A Systematic Literature Review</b>

This systematic literature review synthesizes 150 peer-reviewed studies (1992–2025) to map the evolution of the Congo Basin’s governance landscape across 15 thematic clusters. Using a structured eligibility framework, the study evaluates the intertwinement of local subsistence economies, national sovereignty, and global climate commitments expressed through programmes such as Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) and the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
