Skin microbiota and mycobiota of Bombina variegata. null

This dataset includes bacterial V3-V4 and fungal ITS1 sequences from microbial communities living on the skin of the yellow-bellied toad (Bombina variegata), a small anuran that colonizes a wide range of wetland habitats. This dataset was used to investigate how the diversity and composition of both its bacterial and fungal skin communities vary across 4 habitats (14 sites) and their water characteristics. Samples were collected in the Province of Trento (Italy). We found Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) ASVs in eight waterbodies, but also about 60 bacterial taxa commonly associated with Bd resistance.
