The Rhodococcus erythropolis genome was sequenced to be used as a reference for RNA-Seq alignment to study the transcriptome dynamics of response to the lytic bacteriophage WC1. This now enables other researchers to use this genome to study R. erythropolis diversity and interaction with other phages due to its popular use as a bacteriophage host.
