Effect of diet-induced obesity on uterine function in mice.

To gain insight into the mechanism(s) by which obesogenic diet caused decreased uterine contractility at term, we collected uterine tissue from mice fed either a control (CON) or an obesogenic (DIO) diet at day 18.5 of pregnancy and performed RNA sequencing. Female mice were fed either a control or an obesogenic diet for 10 weeks and throughout pregnancy. Whole uterus was collected on day of pregnancy 18.5 (term non-labor) starting from the implantation site closest to the cervix (C-0). Fetal tissue, placenta, and amnion were removed, and the remaining uterine tissues (individual implantation sites) were flash frozen in liquid nitrogen until further analyses. C-1 was used for RNA analysis.
