Microbial diversity of whole plant corn silage after aerobic exposure

This project investigates how microbial communities in whole-plant corn silage evolve during aerobic exposure (post-opening), a critical phase affecting feed quality and safety. Corn silage, a staple livestock feed, undergoes fermentation to preserve nutrients, but its exposure to oxygen after storage triggers microbial shifts that may degrade nutritional value or even produce toxins.
