Chlorocebus sabaeus Genome sequencing

This project contains the whole genome sequence from 87 vervet monkeys Chlorocebus aethiops sabaeus (African Green Monkeys) from an extended pedigree of Caribbean-origin housed at the Wake Forest University Vervet Research Colony (VRC). These individuals were sequenced to ~7x depth coverage. The VRC pedigree is genetically characterized and deeply phenotyped with respect to numerous health-related traits, and serves as a model for studies of traits relevant to human health, in particular, brain functions, behavior, cardiometabolism, diabetes, immunity, susceptibility to infectious diseases (such as HIV/AIDS). This dataset provides a resource that will help to uncover genetic basis of health-related traits and potential targets for therapy.
