Protected areas and other protected areas

Identification data of protected areas identified for natural, landscape and cultural characteristics, and defined through specific legislative acts. The dataset contains the national, regional and other types of protected areas that are part of the Regional Ecological Network. The individual protected areas are classified according to the types provided for in Chapter I of Title II of Regional Law No 19 of 29 June 2009, as amended, ‘Consolidated text on the protection of natural areas and biodiversity’, which provides, in relation to the various characteristics and uses, for the identification of natural parks, nature reserves, special reserves, contiguous areas and protected natural areas. For regional parks are also indicated the subjects responsible for their management (Management Authority, Province, etc...). The aim of protecting these sites is the conservation of nature. Sites are designated according to IUCN regulations.
