Single-atom catalysts are the next frontier in catalysis research. When supported on metal-organic frameworks, single-atom catalysts do not only offer the benefits of their heterogenisation but also possibility for highly desirable tandem reactions. This proposal targets the determination of the single-atom catallysts' active centre’s local structure by probing the changes in the vibrational and rotational freedoms of motion of the MOF with and without Pd SACs added, as well as the specimens’ behaviour under hydrogen pressure. This will generate important information of the structure-catalytic performance relationships of this promising hydrogenation catalyst.
