资源简介:

Originally, a loutrophoros was a vase used to carry water for the nuptial bath. Marble loutrophoroi were often used to decorate the tombs of unmarried men, to symbolise the wedding they never had. Here, the richly decorated vase is sculpted in high relief on a stela with a pediment. The name of the deceased and his place of origin are engraved on the pediment: "Phainippos, (son of) Lykios, (of the name of) Kephale.
