Early stages of growth and relaxation of BaTiO3 on SrTiO3(001)

BaTiO3 (BTO) is a promising material for a wide spectrum of potential novel applications. Its properties are largely dependent on its domain orientations, which can be directly controlled by strain. Here, we propose to investigate the growth and relaxation of BTO on SrTiO3(001) by in situ grazing incidence X-ray diffraction. Preliminary results show unexpected behaviour at early stages.
