The family Rubrobacteraceae is often represented by its thermophilic and radiotolerant species. R. radiotolerans and R. xylanophilus have been extensively studied. We have now sequenced the genome of a Rubrobacter taiwanensis strain, isolated from Yellowstone National Park, to further lend identifiable traits within the family. We postulate the strain designation 'Yellowstone'.
