Phase-equilibrium (MAGEMin) model of the parent magma of the Luxmore Mafic Igneous Complex, New Zealand (lmic_model v2)

Phase-equilibrium (MAGEMin) model of the parent magma of the Luxmore Mafic Igneous Complex (LMIC), Fiordland, New Zealand. Fractional-crystallisation paths of primitive arc basalts are calculated with MAGEMin and compared with the LMIC minerals. The question is which parent, water content, oxygen fugacity and crystallisation pressures reproduce the LMIC sequence and mineral compositions: - olivine (Fo80.6) first, with Cr-spinel inclusions (exsolved; Al-spinel host Cr# 13.9–28.0, reconstructed grains 19.8–34.9 at an Al-spinel volume fraction of 0.65 (mass fraction 0.60), bulk separates 30.7–42.0 as an upper limit); - plagioclase (An90.2) at least 10 °C later; - then cpx (Mg# 83.2).
