Govan 24

Govan 24 ([Stirling Maxwell's numbering](https://archive.org/details/sculpturedstone00maxwgoog/page/n42/mode/2up); ECMS 6) is one of 31 early medieval recumbent cross-slabs originally recorded at Govan Old in 1899. These monuments would have originally laid flat in the churchyard, likely marking the grave of a significant early medieval individual. The inscription across the top, 'Belliy houstons', was added sometime between the 17th-19th centuries when the stone was reused. [Tim Clarkson has suggested it was reused by someone in the Rowan family](https://earlymedievalgovan.wordpress.com/2014/08/28/the-bellahouston-stone/).
