Upper San Joaquin River E. coli Monitoring Results

The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board collects weekly E. coli samples from the Upper San Joaquin River during the summer recreation season. E. coli is a type of bacteria used to indicate fecal pollution and that pathogens may be present in the water. This map displays the most recent monitoring results. Results are compared to the statewide Bacteria Water Quality Objectives. The Bacteria Objectives are designed to protect the public from illness while participating in water-contact activities such as swimming, wading, and boating.
