Here we sequenced three S. aureus isolates that were phnotypically methicillin resistant and carried the mecA gene but were negatively tested by the new Xpert® MRSA Gen 3 PCR generation. Whole genome sequencing elucidated the genomic composition of the mecA carrying SCCmec.
