资源简介:
The proposal aims to characterize the microstructure and mechanical properties of a Complex Phase steel (CP800) subjected to Quenching and Partitioning (Q&P) heat treatments using neutron diffraction. The research focuses on a detailed analysis of the bainite, ferrite, and martensite phases, exploring the impact of cooling rates and the formation of metastable phases that were not detected using X-rays due to their limitations.
The experiment plans to use samples subjected to two thermal cycles with temperature variations between 950°C and 300°C or 400°C. The proposal requests 48 hours of beam time on the ENGIN-X neutron diffraction line at ISIS, including a request for an initial "EXPRESS" measurement to guide the main experiments. Neutron diffraction is chosen for its greater penetration and sensitivity compared to X-rays, allowing for more precise characterization of phases and their interactions with carbon in the steel.
The study aims to expand the understanding of phase transitions in Complex Phase steels, with a view to improving future processing and mechanical properties of this type of material.
