The Phyllis Margaret Rountree Guide to Records documents and contextualises the records of Phyllis Margaret Rountree, a leading Australian microbiologist who became an international authority on the typing of bacteriophages, particularly Staphylococcus aureus (Golden Staph). The records documented by the Guide are grouped into nine series, and cover Rountree's correspondence, subject files, notebooks, lectures and papers from her career in microbiology and as an authority on the typing of bacteriophages. The guide describes 94 inventory items (mostly paper files). The total collection occupies 158 linear cm of shelf space (or its equivalent).
The Guide is the output of a research database. It was first published online by the Australian Science Archives Project in 1996. An updated version of the Guide was published online by the Australian Science and Technology Heritage Centre in April 2004.
The records were transferred to the Mitchell Library, State Library of New South Wales (MLMSS 6482). The collection was listed by Lisa Jooste and Tim Sherratt.
