Census Data and Analysis for Adams Morgan 2010-2022

Public spaces in cities around the world are disappearing at alarming rates as cities face mounting housing, economic, and social issues that demand comprehensive solutions. Adams Morgan Plaza in Washington, DC is no different. Over the past several years, the Plaza has experienced numerous changes that have radically altered the social atmosphere of the surrounding neighborhood. Privatization, historic preservation, and social capital have become mounting factors that dictate how public space is used and repurposed in places like Adams Morgan. This study uses economic census data, ethnography, and mapping to understand why Adams Morgan Plaza was sited and how the space is used today.
