Robyn_vanZijl_IRMS_Sediment
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains carbon and nitrogen stable isotope ratios (δ¹³C, δ¹⁵N) and elemental percentages (%C, %N) for sediment cores collected from four sites in the Berg River Estuary in June 2025. Samples include centre and edge sediment cores aswell as depths of 0-2cm and 28-30cm, across 3 meadows per site. Samples were analysed at the BIOGRIP Water and Soil Node, Stellenbosch University, using a Vario Isotope Select elemental analyser (Elementar, Germany) coupled to an Isoprime precision isotope ratio mass spectrometer (IRMS, Elementar, UK) with LyticOS© software (v5.0.4.118). Sediment samples were weighed into tin capsules (approximately 60 mg) and processed following standard EA-IRMS protocols, including combustion, reduction, drying, and separation via a Temperature Programmed Desorption (TPD) column. δ¹³C values are expressed relative to Vienna Pee Dee Belemnite (VPDB), and δ¹⁵N values relative to atmospheric nitrogen (Air). Quality control and drift correction were ensured through reference standards and periodic laboratory checks. This dataset provides high-precision isotopic and elemental data for sediment, supporting research on nutrient cycling, organic matter sources, and estuarine biogeochemistry.
