eDEM-KG: An Ontology-Driven Knowledge Graph for Dementia-Related Agitation Events
This knowledge graph (KG) consists of 122 ontology classes, 6 object relationships, and 58 individuals. It is based on eDEM-Connect: Ontology of Dementia-Related Agitation and Relationships between Informal Caregivers and People with Dementia (EDEM-CONNECTONTO). The concepts represented in this KG are derived directly from the EDEM-CONNECTONTO, while instances and relationships were populated using manually annotated entities and relations from a BRAT-annotated dementia dataset. This dementia dataset is applied to train models for named entity recognition (NER) and relationship extraction (RE) tasks.
The annotated dementia dataset provides ontology-driven entity and relation annotations, which are based on unstructured, conversational, real-world dementia forum texts. This KG incorporates annotated entities and relationships, which are used to populate the ontology, as they offer more accurate and reliable semantic representations.
