From 1877, the responsibility for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges moved from the Department of Railways and Roads (VPRS 2875) to the Roads and Bridges Branch of the Department of Public Works (VPRS 669).This series provides details of the payment of accounts rendered by this Branch. Details included the name of the claimant and the amount and nature of the claim, details respecting the contract to which the claim referred, references to other financial records and the details of payment and approvals.VPRS 12684/P1 unit 1 was previously serialised as VPRS 1144/P unit 6. It was reserialised in 2001 as part of the ARAD Project.
