Cirium: Historical Emissions Data

Cirium’s EmeraldSky CO2 Emissions data **fuses proprietary fleet, aircraft utilization and fuel burn models** which derive accurate historical and forecast flight emissions. It incorporates Cirium data covering **over 3 million flights per month across 900 airlines** (the active fleet globally). The methodology considers crucial factors which can impact the amount of emissions omitted such as **aircraft type and their attributes (winglets, engine type, age and more), flight duration (taxi and airtime), and passenger and cargo load**. Using the EmeraldSky methodology, Cirium has generated **over 150 fuel burn models to date.**

This precise methodology allows businesses to make strategic decisions and reports based on superior emissions estimates for flights compared to other carbon calculation methods. Other methods rely on great circle distances between two points to derive generic estimates.
