This project investigates how pathogenic bacteria adapt and persist in freshwater environments. Many bacteria that cause human infections also have the capacity to survive outside the host, where environmental stresses such as nutrient limitation and osmotic changes can trigger significant adaptive responses. Understanding the environmental factors that drive these adaptations is crucial for public health.
