In much the same way, Bent Sørensen's article Icons of Transgression argues that iconic images may transgress normality by challenging stereotypical images of unity and wholesomeness. Through a reading of images of Charles Manson and Patty Hearst, Sørensen shows how viewers may turn from consumers into worshippers.
