Pelican Island - Restoration of Wading Bird Habitat and Littoral Rainforest

This project will build on past work to help restore the rainforest and other habitats of
Pelican Island by: targeting the reduction of invasive weeds, especially Weeds of National Significance (WoNS); and feral animal control, to reduce the predation of migratory waders and threatened resident birds. This project will also help maintain the suitability of the high
tide wader roosting sites for wading birds that migrate from the northern hemisphere. This project complements existing projects (funded by other grants) of weed and animal control
on adjoining natural areas by the Macquarie Hastings Council.
