We demonstrated that adipose tissue derived extracellular vesicles from HFD-fed mice could induce cognitive impairment. miRNAs in adipose tissue-derived EVs could be transferred to the hippocampus, which promotes synaptic damage and cognitive impairment. To identify the specific subtypes of miRNAs that responsible for cognitive impairment, we examined the sRNA profiles of hippocampus and EVs extracted from adipose tissue of Chow and HFD mice by RNA deep sequencing. Adipose tissue derived EVs and hippocampus were extracted from male mice of the 12-week Chow- or HFD-fed C57BL/6J backgrounds and processed for RNA extraction by Trizol. All sRNA library construction and deep sequencing were performed by Novogene (Tianjin, China).
