The data collected from the scoping review that was completed to collate all existing literature over the past 15 years describing the blood meals of <em>Culex</em> species globally.

This dataset includes all of the data collected from the scoping review, that used pubmed as a search engine to collate all existing literature over the past 15 years on the blood meal analysis of Culex species globally. All relevant papers were collected and the following information was extracted and documented; the pub med link to the paper, the PMID, the year the paper was published, the title of the paper, the geographical area in which the study took place, the Culex species, the vertebrate species, vertebraate species type and whether the culex species did or did not feed on the vertebrate species. Additional notes were also included to provide additional information such as how many blood meals were identified for each host species within the study. 107 papers were collected from 30 different countries and the blood meals of 71 different Culex species were collated. A total of 1958 blood meals were recorded from 488 different vertebrate species and 99 vertebrate species were idenfified as having no association as a blood meal source with certain Culex species.
