Apilactobacillus waqareii isolate HBW1 was isolated from the honey bee gut that produces alpha-glucan using sucrose as a substrate was sequenced and assembled. This genome gives an insight into the mechanism of glucan synthesis by this isolate through glucosyltransferase (GTF) enzymes. The information is expected to improve our understanding of introduction of different types of glucosidic linkages in glucan product synthesized by GTF enzymes found in this novel isolate.
