These data present observations of epidermal cracking, blister-like stem lesions, and presence of larval soybean gall midge, <i>Resseliella</i><i> maxima</i> Gagné (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae), from 25 legume species grown in field plots in Sioux County, Iowa, in 2020 and 2021. Data are presented in three worksheets: in-field observations from June-August 2020, in-field observations from June-August 2021, and observations from stems that were split in September 2021.
