"(...) belonged to Joaquim Ribeiro de Carvalho (1880-1942), a native of Leiria, a renowned journalist and republican politician who was even nominated several times as a deputy. Ribeiro de Carvalho was also an active member of Freemasonry and Portuguese Carbonaria. It is known that in 1923 the building underwent works on the initiative of the owner but, more recently (1988), the City Council of Sintra made an exchange with the heirs, remaining the house and the annexes in the family, being the autarchy with the zone together to Ribeira das Jardas, now transformed into the well-known "Bela Vista Urban Park"."
