Philologists

The material has been collected within the framework of the Academic Project at the Department of Social Research (ISF). For a more detailed description of this project, publication list M.M. Displayed to the collectors on biographical data archives in Norway, which was prepared by the committee for social science computing in 1969.

- The material includes biographical data for philologists with civil society and magistrates in social studies and philological subjects from the period 1820 to 1963. The main responsible for the collection was Tore Lindbekk.

- Data was originally collected and registered on punch cards in the ICT's childhood. Therefore, there are some problems that must be attributed to the process of moving data between different technology generations. Throughout, Nordic alphabetic grades have, Ø and being difficult to handle, also in the difference between upper and lower case.

- Early statistics packages, DDPP and SPSS, could not handle alphabetical variables in a good way. For these data, there has been some problems in allowing registered names to convert data files. In the restored versions this is therefore directed as far as possible.
