In early 2019, a temporary deployment of a small network of seismic and acoustic instruments will take place at a glacially-covered active volcano in Southern Chile. The current target volcano is Cerro Hudson, although this may be subject to change due to logistical issues and the changes in volcanic activity in the region. We will deploy 8 PASSCAL broadband instruments for a period of up to 3 months. The aim of the project is two-fold: to assess the activity levels of the little studied volcano, and to develop improved techniques for monitoring volcanoes in glacial regions.
