Oscillatoria sp. PCC 6506. This project describes the genome of an Oscillatoria cyanobacterium strain producing several toxins including the deadly neurotoxins anatoxin-a and homoanatoxin-a. This is the first Oscillatoria cyanobacterium genome ever described. These new data will be helpful for further studies on this interesting group of microorganisms and for the detection of toxic cyanobacteria in the environment.
