资源简介:
Obesity is a significant risk factor for several diseases, including cardiovascular diseases such as heart disease and stroke, some types of cancer and Type 2 Diabetes, which are the leading causes of death worldwide. Obesity is a multifactorial and heterogeneous condition resulting from environmental factors and the alterations of various genes, each frequently having a partial or/and additive effect. The inheritance pattern of obesity is thus complex and plays a vital role in promoting or delaying the disease's development. Thus, polymorphism like β3 Adrenergic Receptor gene (ADRB3) Tryptophan-64-Arginine (Trp64Arg) is a prominent candidate gene given its involvement in the regulation of lipolysis, glucose metabolism and thermogenesis. This dataset is a subsample derived from the Maracaibo City Metabolic Syndrome Prevalence Study aimed to determine the ADRB3 gene Tr64/Arg polymorphism relationship with anthropometric measurements in adult individuals from Maracaibo, Venezuela, in which 80 obese randomly-selected patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS) were studied for the Trp64Arg polymorphism detection by PCR-RFLP. Results: The wild homozygous Trp/Trp (80%) was the most frequent genotype, followed by Trp/Arg (18.75%) and less frequently Arg/Arg (1.25%), with the T allele (0.89) as the most predominant.
