Paleo-Köppen climate zone reconstructions from 252 Ma to present (~5 Ma intervals)

This dataset contains reconstructed paleo-Köppen climate zones (Zhang et al., 2016) at ~5 Ma intervals from 252 Ma to present. Climate classifications are derived from simulations of Judd et al. (2023). The dataset includes grid-based climate zone classifications (Main_types A–E and subtypes Belt), along with key climate variables: mean annual temperature (MAT, °C), mean annual precipitation (MAP, mm/yr), warmest and coldest month mean temperatures (WMMT, CMMT, °C), Köppen aridity index (AI_koppen), land mask (Land, 1 = land, 0 = ocean), paleolatitude (LAT, °) and paleolongitude (LON, °), and elevation (Height, m). This dataset is intended for use in paleoclimate studies, climate modeling validation, and analyses linking climate zones to paleogeography and elevation. Derived data only; original climate simulations are available from Judd et al. (2023).
