Evidence for plastome loss in the holoparasitic Mystropetalaceae

To date, no available plastid sequence for Mystropetalaceae has been deposited in GenBank or has been reported from any literature, although there have been very limited sequences of several mitochondrial and nuclear genes of this family deposited in GenBank. Here we provide compelling evidence for plastome loss in Hachettea austrocaledonica by analyzing its Illumina DNA and RNA sequencing data, and in Mystropetalon thomii and Dactylanthus taylorii by analyzing their Illumina DNA sequencing data.
