This series records payments made to the Ballarat Court from cases heard in all of the Court's jurisdictions. Ordinarily receipts are issued from specially printed books and only the stub and a carbon copy of the receipt is retained by the Court as evidence of the payment. In this instance the carbon copy of the receipt has been pasted into a series of volumes, usually four to a page. Details include the jurisdiction, names of opposing parties in court case (including the case number), the sum and the signature of the person who issued the receipt. This was usually the Clerk of Petty Sessions.
