Monthly water quality monitoring dataset from Bahía de Lobos coastal lagoon, Sonora, Mexico (2022–2023)

This repository contains monthly water quality monitoring data collected in the Bahía de Lobos coastal lagoon, Sonora, Mexico, from June 2022 to May 2023. The dataset includes chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) concentrations measured in water samples collected monthly at a single monitoring point with triplicate analyses. The monitoring site was located at latitude 27.34406170395431 and longitude -110.50849672799285. Sampling months were additionally classified according to climatic period to facilitate seasonal analyses. Chemical oxygen demand was determined using the closed reflux method, total suspended solids were quantified using the gravimetric method, and total nitrogen and total phosphorus were determined according to Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater. These data provide information on organic matter, suspended solids, and nutrient dynamics in a coastal lagoon ecosystem influenced by natural and anthropogenic inputs. The dataset may be useful for coastal water quality assessment, eutrophication studies, nutrient monitoring, environmental monitoring programs, ecological risk assessment, and coastal ecosystem management.
