The Speciated Multi-Pollutant Generator (SMoG-COALESCE) emissions inventory for climate and air quality assessment.

The SMoG-COALESCE-India emission inventory datasets are the research outcome of the NCAP-COALESCE consortium (www.ncapcoalesce.iitb.ac.in). They were prepared under the National Carbonaceous Aerosol Programme—Carbonaceous Aerosol Emissions Source Apportionment and Climate Impacts (NCAP-COALESCE) project. Pollutants: BC, OM, MM (mineral matter) CO, SO₂, NOx, NMVOCs, CH₄, CO, and N₂O. Spatial resolution: India land points (5 km x 5 km resolution). Base year: 2019 Modelling of sectoral emissions was carried out by 7 researchers, with the supervision of Gazala Habib (at IIT Delhi for residential cooking and transport) and of Harish Phuleria and Chandra Venkataraman (at IIT Bombay for residential heating and lighting, agricultural residue burning, heavy industry, medium, small and micro-scale industry, brick production, informal industry, and thermal power generation with sectoral spatial proxy development and spatial distribution to 5 km). Emission modelling in the residential, agricultural, brick and transport sectors exploited field survey studies done by 15 co-PIs and over 35 researchers. Field emission factor measurements relied on a portable dilution sampler developed by Gazala Habib and researchers at IIT Delhi and India-wide, independent field studies carried out by researchers supervised by Gazala Habib (IIT Delhi) Harish Phuleria and Chandra Venkataraman (IIT Bombay).
