S2S Thurgoona BioBlitz 2012

The Thurgoona Bioblitz 2012 took place over two days on Friday 18th May and Saturday 19th May. The event involved 36 wildlife surveys at a number of sites and habitats throughout Thurgoona, focusing on birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. Over 300 individual sightings and 100 species were recorded at the event.
The surveys were led by ecologists from Charles Sturt University, Australian National University, Latrobe University, Nature Conservation Trust, Murray Catchment Management Authority, ACT Government, National Environment Centre, and GHD Consultants. The local community turned out in force with 300 people involved over the two days.

The event was organised by the Slopes to Summit (S2S) partnership and the Woolshed Thurgoona Landcare Group. Funding was provided by the Federal Government's 'Caring For Our Country' (Community Action Grants) program, NSW Environmental Trust, Albury Conservation Company, and CSU Green.
A large number of organisations supported the event, including Nature Conservation Trust, Charles Sturt University, Australian National University, Murray Catchment Management Authority, Riverina Institute of Tafe (National Environment Centre, NSW Department of Primary Industries (Catchments and Land), Trinity Anglican College, Thurgoona Primary School, Tabletop Primary School, WIRES, Albury City Council, Livestock Health and Pest Authority, Thurgoona Golf Club Resort, and GHD Consultants.
