This material is part of the free Environmental Performance in Construction (EPiC) Database. The EPiC Database contains embodied environmental flow coefficients for 250+ construction materials using a comprehensive hybrid life cycle inventory approach.<br><br>Water is used in significant quantities for construction activities, site preparation and as a material additive/solvent. It is also essential for all known forms of life on earth. <br><br>Although water covers approximately 70% of the earth's surface, only a small proportion is readily available for use in construction projects. With a growing population, and increasing demand for housing, construction and infrastructure projects, water is becoming an increasingly scarce resource. <br><br>
