The dataset was generated from open data from the PIRLS (Progress in International Reading Literacy Study) and PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) surveys to conduct an exploratory descriptive analysis of the relationship between the parental educational attainment and the use of public libraries by children in OECD countries. Furthermore, the research also used PIRLS data to document the well-established correlation between family library size and children's reading performance across 20 OECD countries over two decades.
