The goal of this project is to improve our understanding of the carbonation, hydration, and regeneration reactions within the strontium oxide - strontium carbonate (SrO-SrCO3) system. This knowledge is crucial for the development SrO-based materials for the direct air capture (DAC) of carbon dioxide (CO2). In situ X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) coupled with vibrational spectroscopy will provide unique insights into the atomic and molecular transformations that occur during the hydration and carbonation of SrO at ambient temperature.
